LAST WEEK’S RECAP | Nov 19 – 25, 2012

A couple of regulars were away last week and wished me Happy Thanksgiving from far, far away:
“Hello from Bangalore, India …. Happy Thanksgiving!” – DH, a regular from Randolph
“Hello from Bali, Indonesia …. Happy Thanksgiving!” – KY, a regular from Englewood

A regular from NYC sums up Thanksgiving – “Happy Thanksgiving. There is a lot for us to be thankful for. For me one of those things being, I will be playing tennis, … , with a bunch of my happily competitive pals.”

Four weeknight players from Hoboken, North Bergen and Teaneck played ONE set, which lasted 1.5 hours – “The score on the first match we were only finish one set. The score was 16-14 games! Probably a record on Penny’s parties…. So it was very competitive.”

It was like a small reunion having players from Boonton and Jersey City gather at the Saturday party. They arrived early and chatted a little while before starting their 9pm match. They were happy to see and play other friends at the parties, who were just happy to see them. Missing were their buddies from Edgewater and Nanuet (or Nyack). Soon enough I will get them all together, I was only half successful this time.

A player from Hoboken came off the court and said what a nice time he had with a great partner and opponents from Cliffside Park and Englewood. His partner and her husband have become regulars in just 2 months, having moved to NYC from Princeton or Edison. They’re enjoying playing and meeting new people as much as others enjoying them!

It was a great week of tennis pre and post Thanksgiving!
