Court Etiquette

Just a reminder, our parties provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere, where players can have friendly competition. We simply ask attendees to follow these guidelines:

1. Introduce yourself to the new players on the court. This will make for a more wholesome experience.

2. Be cordial to your partners and opponents.

3. Refrain from giving instructions to anyone on the court unless they request them.

4. Do not gun for the person at the net with fast and hard hitting especially in mixed doubles.

5. Kindly pick up the balls for the server. It saves time and is just good etiquette.

6. When you leave the court, please find the 3 balls you played with and leave them for the next group of players.

7. Do not call a ball out when you or your partner are unsure about a line call. It is unsportsmanlike and can stir unpleasant reactions.
Check USTA or other tennis websites for the official rules.

8. If you are scheduled to play the next hour, do not take more than a 10-minute break. There are players who play only 2 hours and could use the complete playtime.

I used to think I was the greatest tennis player when I got better, but then not exactly a beginner but maybe about the level of 3.0. Then when I got to 3.5, I thought how much I need improvement! I’m still far from and may never be that advanced player. The Cliffside Park player commented that he came to a realization during his studies for his actuarial exams, which just about sums up the pattern or life of a tennis player: Level 1…
