LAST WEEK’S RECAP | June 17 – 23, 2013

SATURDAY
The event started at 9AM on Saturday, June 22nd. Dwight brought bagels and cream cheese, something I wouldn’t have thought of but it was fitting for breakfast. There was BBQ all day and players got to relax on the deck while waiting for the next round. There were many newcomers as well as old timers. Spectators included family members who came for support or just a nice day out.

A player signed up for mixed doubles without a partner but I had one for her. She kidded – “Hot, young guy? And plays like Nadal?” I told her – “Hotter, younger and better.” She wittily replied – “Great, can’t wait! I obviously don’t know him then!”

SUNDAY
A player from Jersey City landed at JFK, back from Tuscany, straight to Packanack this Sunday. Next week she said she will do same, back from Montreal, straight to Packanack. She just loves the Sunday outdoor parties!

Since there was no Saturday night party at the Binghamton, a player from Cliffside Park decided to attend the Sunday party with a friend from Fort Lee. It was so nice to see them again, bringing back memories of 2007 when they once attended regularly.
