LAST WEEK’S RECAP | June 12 – June 17, 2012
WEEKNIGHTS
Some people cannot live without playing multiple times a week. They love their routine workout, keeping healthy and their skills sharp throughout the year.
FRIDAY
Friday night parties are still going strong this summer and in fact are more popular than they’ve ever been in the past 5 summers. It seems the young and older players blend in quite well with each other. Whether it’s the people, the atmosphere or it’s TGIF mentality – it sure works well.
SATURDAY
There was no tennis party last Saturday but I spent it with a couple of players who attended the wedding of another player from Lyndhurst. The bride and groom danced the night away like there was no tomorrow. The groom certainly danced as well as his 5.0 tennis level, very graceful and yet fun. He brought smiles to everyone who watched him on this Happy Day!
SUNDAY
It was perfect weather for a Father’s Day’s celebration. One player from Wyckoff asked his player dad from North Haledon what he would like to do. Dad said he wanted to spend it playing at Penny’s party. Needless to say it made me very happy. I look up to him as if he were my dad. He and another player from Cliffside Park took me under their wings from day 1 that I started running parties.
A player from Demarest brought his 10-year-old to play. They spent their first hour playing together, showing their strong tennis and father-son bond.
The rest of the players were just happy to be playing on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
I was glad to have Donnay representatives at the party. They were quite accommodating with fitting racquets to players’ needs and levels. Plus, they gave away some nice shirts and accessories. We should and will have them back again soon!
