LAST WEEK’S RECAP | July 22 – 28, 2013

THURSDAY
It was nice to see a friend from last year and a couple of players from last season. Everyone had a nice time.

FRIDAY
Players from the Bronx, NYC, Fort Lee and Maywood played the first hour. It was almost as if they were playing volleyball, taking balls in mid air, from no-man’s land and the baseline. After the match, a player on the adjacent court who saw them play said that it looked like they were having a lot of fun.

This week we had a celebration for a couple of players from Morristown who will be starting their new life in VA. Everyone wished them all the best with a toast and a lot of fun and laughter. It was such a nice reunion. We will all miss them very much!

SATURDAY
An interesting tidbit that one may or may not know. A couple of players stated that there are different ways to get married: by a judge, mayor and even a boat captain!

A sense of fairness…A player from Rye is the only 6th grade science teacher at a private school. When his daughter was in kindergarten, she said she couldn’t wait to be in his class. By fourth grade she said she wanted him to give her the questions on the test. By fifth grade, she wanted the questions and answers. Now going into sixth, she doesn’t want to know any of the questions, answers or any special treatment. He raised his daughter well…to have a sense of fairness.

SUNDAY
The weather held up for a couple of hours before the sky opened up and the rain came down. Mother nature has been good to us thus far on Sundays, so a little rain once in a while isn’t bad.
