LAST WEEK’S RECAP | January 14 – 20, 2013

TUESDAY
What an unusual night, with men only. Hope to see some ladies this week.

THURSDAY
I gotta believe that the player from Cliffside Park came out tonight, more to see improvements made to the club than to play, although he did have a nice time playing, too.

A player from Secaucus brought a friend from his condo complex. The newcomer recognized 2 other players from her complex, Riverside, and they chatted briefly. A fourth player from Montclair was rotated onto her court later and she, too, knew the newcomer. It’s another sixth degree of separation.

It was a fun tennis night. Everyone laughed and smile, played and then departed.

FRIDAY
Players arrived with smiles each Friday night, living up to the saying Thank God It’s Friday. I can’t quite put my fingers on it but it was an exceptionally fun Friday!

SATURDAY
There was so much talk about the new court surface – the blue on green – going on tonight. Everyone was glad to be back, like Home Sweet Home! It’s just a special place where so many have played for years, including me (since the early 90’s). People also like the Binghamton because it’s close to NYC. Some have said they love the drive there, it’s almost like going out to NYC. They like looking at the skyline on the way in and during their hour off. All pluses, and zero minuses. 🙂

It was great to see old friends again from Eastchester/Hartsdale, NYC, the Bronx, Edgewater, Hoboken, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Guttenberg, Jersey City, Montclair, North Bergen, Parsippany, Ridgefield, River Edge, Secaucus, Teaneck, Warren, Wayne and Weehawken.

There were also a few newcomers from Edgewater and Fort Lee, and non-newcomers who were trying out the Saturday night at the Binghamton for the first time, including players from Montclair and Parsippany. They definitely enjoyed themselves tonight.

Some of the responses to the reopening were:
“Hoooray!!!” – player from Northern Manhattan
“Yippee!! :)” – player from downtown Manhattan
“Yeppy! for Binghamton.” – player from downtown Manhattan
“Do we know the status on Binghamton?” – player from uptown Manhattan

SUNDAY
A fun Sunday!
