LAST WEEK’S RECAP | May 25 – 31, 2015

It’s been over a year since I last reported the court highlights. So much we have missed and everyone is dying to know. So here we go, I will start reporting them again!

I will start slowly this week with only a couple of highlights. A Friday partygoer from Smokerise (?) brought a college buddy to the party. They rekindled at a wedding in Massachusetts and figured why not play tennis together again. They were quite a blast, bringing smiles to those on and off the court. Coincidentally the newcomer friend from Ridgewood has the exact same first and last name as another Friday regular from Lyndhurst who unfortunately has been on the disable list for 6 months. A six-degrees-of-separation – the newcomer is the grandson of a realtor who sold the house to my family in Teaneck where I lived in for many years. It was a pleasure having them at the party and hope to see them again soon!

Two good friends met up at the Saturday party. Former party regulars until one moved to Virginia and the other got married and settled in a house with a pool, which kept her swimming and swimming. As usual they joked and laughed; I’ve spent hours sharing court time with them or watching them from afar. It’s always a fun time.

Sunday party got rained out. The sky opened up for only 5 minutes and then the sun came out for several hours. If it had been 90-degree summer weather, the red clay would have dried in 1-2 hours and courts would have been playable. So far we had been lucky the last 3-4 years with sunny days on Sundays. Hope we will have another nice summer Sundays this year.
