Just a few highlights from the more recent tennis parties… My greatest satisfaction at the parties is seeing players enjoy themselves on and off the court. NY/NJ is truly a melting pot of cultures and people from all walks of life. Players from different parts of the world and backgrounds gather here week after week .
It’s been a great winter season with many old and new friends gathering for winter fun. It seems we’ve many more newcomers this year. It must be that every 10 years there’s a new wave. I’m especially proud of the upsurge of new interest where more beginners have been practicing here throughout the winter.
A newcomer from Hoboken found us a few months ago but never gave it a try tonight. I just thought it was cool that here’s someone from Australia. Last Thursday a newcomer originally from Poland and last Friday a newcomer originally from Romania joined. I just love to gloat how much New Jersey is a melting pot with so much diversity here…
Wednesday nights started out slow this season but have picked up steam along the way, though the faces change just about every 4 weeks and then there’s the core group…
There is a tennis craze sweeping our area – an emergence of a new group of players finding us the last 2 months, ~10 newcomers a week, how exciting! Monday alone I’ve had 5 newcomers interested in joining, 1 through another newcomer from last Saturday. Oddly many 20-30-somethings are joining. Players find me through the internet, posters at tennis clubs and best yet – word of mouth, the greatest compliment…
It’s interesting that just when you think tonight’s tennis was so much fun, then you feel that way the next night, and the next. Maybe they’re just all fun, just good to make note of them all…
It was great seeing a few people demoing racquets tonight. A former college player from Palisades Park trained in Florida, where he’s originally from, is trying out lighter racquets which I thought showed in his improved play tonight…
Dr. Antoine, an avid tennis player has frequented Tennis Buffs parties for years and as recently as December, during a short break prior to starting her new post as the new CEO of Women’s Sports Foundation…
It was great seeing everyone the last 2 weeks of December, enjoying the holidays with friends and families. (I did miss the ones I didn’t get to see.) So many have brought their friends and relatives to the tennis parties…
