Last-minute decision, I joined several tennis players for wedding in Canada, that of a player from Parsippany. Gone Friday and back Sunday. It was one of the best weddings, road trips and long weekends! I’d write about it but told everyone at the wedding – “What happens in Toronto, stays in Toronto.”

It was like being at a reunion; everyone was smiling and enjoying themselves so much that they didn’t want to rotate out of their matches after the first hour. Three players from Cliffside Park, Jersey City and Mahwah who often played with each other in the past but hadn’t in a few months on the same day decided they would gather tonight. Friday night parties are still going strong this summer and in fact are more popular than they’ve ever been in the past 5 summers. It seems the young and older players blend in quite well with each other. Whether it’s the people, the atmosphere or it’s TGIF mentality – it sure works well…
